Quadric error metric decimation. On a GLB the UVs, normals and materials ride along with the mesh and the texture images are copied through byte for byte — texture seams are pinned, so heavily mapped models reduce less far. OBJ input is geometry only.
01

Drop

Export a GLB from SketchUp (File › Export › 3D Model › GLTF Binary) and drag it in. Textures travel inside the file, so there is nothing else to gather.

02

Tune

Pick a reduction ratio or an absolute triangle budget. Quadric error decimation keeps the silhouette while folding away detail.

03

Download

Compare original and optimized side by side, then export a GLB that opens back in SketchUp, Blender or a web viewer with the same textures — or strip it to OBJ or STL.

When to use it

Cut a heavy scan or store asset down to a realtime budget, prepare far-LOD stand-ins for archviz scenes, or lighten props before a WebGL or AR export. Below ~10% keep an eye on fine details — thin features are the first to collapse.
